I was therefore very disappointed to find that there were noapps available to play these games in Windows 8. So I decided to create my own player app, and this is the result of that work.Frotz8 is an interactive fiction game interpreter. It is based on the extremely capable Frotz engine, and so it should be able to play virtually all InteractiveFiction games that use the standard. These include all of the original Infocom adventure games, and hundreds of more recent games created with thedevelopment environment.A large collection of compatible games can be found in the page - take a look to see some of the games that you can play inside Frotz8. And even better, Frotz8 integrates directlywith the IF Archive, allowing you to find, download and play the games with just a couple of clicks or taps on the screen.A significant amount of the code in Frotz8 was written by others, including work by Stefan Jokisch (who created the original Frotz engine)and Chris Szurgot (who ported Frotz to C#). Both to thank these people for their work, and also just because every system should have aZ-Machine interpreter, I have decided to release Frotz8 free of charge.

I've pre-registered with Carphone warehouse and have received an email today to pre-order the new iphone. I'm not sure whether to do this or get one from O2 themselves. Which is better; Carphone warehouse or O2?I know it's an unknown but do you think they will be really rare to get hold of? We want to get one for DS1 Birthday and he's coming home next Saturday so thought we could go for one then but didn't want everywhere to have sold out.Is the Wifi any good around Leeds? Would DS1 still need internet connection at his house to use the iphone?Sorry for all the questions but I'm totally clueless.Caron.

Well we paid a visit to Carphone Warehouse this morning and they haven't a clue about it. Seriously, they were clueless. We knew more than they did.

A complete waste of 30 minutes. I did think about going into town later to the O2 shop but it's a trek and I'm not really up to it so am going to give O2 a call later and see how I get on. Someone did say on the other thread that it's better to get it from Apple for the customer service but it doesn't appear you're able to preorder there yet.One question I wanted an answer for was how much room the average apps take up as we're not sure whether to go for the 16GB or the 32GB and all they could say was 'not much'. How much is 'not much'? I've pre-registered with Carphone warehouse and have received an email today to pre-order the new iphone. I'm not sure whether to do this or get one from O2 themselves. See more.I bout my 3G from carphone warehouse last year as they had better stock levels locally than O2 shortly after launch. I got lucky though and was told by an employee what times and days they get their deliveries. I turned up just as they were signing the delivery in and by the time I had completed the transaction they were sold out already and turning people away. This was about a month after launch.I don't live in leeds so can't comment on wifi etc. I find in London I can get a 3G or edge connection in most places. As for needing an internet connection at home it's not essential, but it's certainly a good idea.

You need to plug the phone in to a computer with an internet connection to be able to register it, download updates etc and some apps are too large to be downloaded via 3G. To me it's a bit like walking in to comet and asking them to tell you about the computers they sell, they're just useless! For proper info on the iphone either go to an apple store or post a question on the apple support forums (or ask someone here in the know!).As for how much space the average app takes up, it really does vary. Some are quite large, others are tiny.

But I can tell you that I have had my iphone for almost a year now and have taken up approx 1.5GB with apps that I still use. I don't tend to download many paid apps though unless I think they will be especially good/useful. I'm sure someone who downloaded a new game each week would take up a lot more space.HTH. See more.I second that. Just looked at mine, and I have 104 apps - 1.5GB too LOL!That includes some big ones like Sim City, Katamari and Spore.Should anybody care, here is a list with the size in bytes.
